Thin apple pie with nuts

Autumn is a great season for eating apples. Indeed, apples are just finished to grow and they are fresher than the rest of the year. Take the opportunity to make an apple pie.

I included in this recipe, the instructions to prepare a homemade pastry but you can use a ready-rolled pastry.

PREPARATION: 20 minutes for the pastry + 30 minutes in the fridge + 20 minutes for the apple pie
COOK: 20/25 minutes at 200°C

What do you need ?
For the pastry:

  • 50 g corn flour
  • 125 g self-rising flour
  • 75 g butter or light butter
  • 4,5 cl cold milk
  • 75 g sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the apple pie:

  • 3 apples
  • 10 g hazelnuts
  • 2 teaspoon sugar

How to do the homemade pastry?

  • Mix together corn flour, self-rising flour, sugar
  • Cut thinly the butter and add it in the preparation

! Tip: Knead the pastry with your fingers

  • Add the vanilla extract and the cold milk

! Tip: add the cold milk little by little

  • Knead again the pastry with your fingers
  • Wrap it in a plastic film and let it cool in a fridge for 30 minutes

How to do the Thin apple pies with nuts?

  • Spread the pastry
  • Use a cookie cutter and cut the pastry in around 8 pieces
  • Prick the pastry with fork
  • Put the pieces of pastry in the oven for 5 minutes at 200°C
  • Peel the apples
  • Cut one apple into a fine julienne
  • Cut two apples into tightly slices
  • In each piece of pastry, at first, put the apple julienne
  • Then add the thinly slices of apples

! Tip: overlap the thinly slices of applesCrush the nuts into small pieces

! Tip: before crushed the nuts, put them in a non sticky pan and cooked them 5 minutes without oil. This process brings more taste to the nuts.

  • Put the nuts on the apple pie
  • Add sugar on the top. That will add a caramelised taste to the apple pie
  • Bake the apple pie for 20/25 minutes in the oven at 200°C
