When Is Easter Monday And Good Friday

Hey there, curious mind! Ever wondered why Easter eggs are hiding in different spots each year, or why some years we're munching on chocolate bunnies while watching parades, and other years we're stuck at home with a virtual hunt? Let's dive into the whimsical world of Easter dates and make your life a little more fun!

Why the Easter Bunny's on a Schedule

Easter, you see, is a moveable feast. It doesn't have a fixed date like, say, Christmas. Instead, it's calculated based on the lunar calendar, which is why it can pop up anywhere between March 22 and April 25. But why, you ask?

Well, it all started with the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD. The bigwigs of the Christian church decided that Easter should be celebrated on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the vernal equinox (the first day of spring). Phew! That's a mouthful, right?

Good Friday and Easter Sunday: A Dynamic Duo

Now, you might be thinking, "Okay, that explains Easter Sunday, but what about Good Friday?" Great question! Good Friday always falls on the Friday before Easter Sunday. It's like they're a dynamic duo, always sticking together. Isn't that sweet?

And here's a fun fact: Easter Monday, which is the day after Easter Sunday, is celebrated in many countries as a public holiday. So, while we're all enjoying our chocolate hangovers, the Easter Bunny is probably sipping on a well-deserved mimosa!

Easter Eggs and the Full Moon

Remember how we mentioned the full moon? That's right, the date of Easter is also influenced by the full moon. The Council of Nicaea decided that Easter should be celebrated on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the vernal equinox. Confused yet? Don't worry, it's like trying to catch the Easter Bunny – it's all about timing!

Here's a little trick to help you remember: the full moon closest to the vernal equinox is called the Paschal Full Moon. And just like that, you're one step closer to becoming an Easter date expert!
