How Old Is Strictly Come Dancing

So, How Old Is Strictly Come Dancing, Anyway?

Ever found yourself grooving to the rhythm of Strictly Come Dancing on a Saturday night, and wondered, "Hey, how long has this dance party been going on?" Well, let's dive in and find out!

Let's Take It Back to the Beginning

Imagine this: it's the year 2004. The iPod is the latest gadget, Harry Potter is ruling the box office, and Big Brother is the reality TV king. Then, suddenly, a new dance show bursts onto the scene - Strictly Come Dancing. But where did it all begin?

Believe it or not, the show was inspired by a Dutch series called So You Think You Can Dance. The BBC saw the potential and decided to give it a British twist. And so, Strictly Come Dancing was born!

Growing Up Together

Just like us, Strictly has grown and changed over the years. It started off with just 10 celebrities learning to dance, but now it's a massive 15! Remember when it was called Strictly Come Dancing? That was before the US version, Dancing with the Stars, came along and we had to change our name to avoid confusion.

We've seen some amazing changes too. Remember when Strictly was just on BBC One? Now, we've got It Takes Two on BBC Two, keeping us up-to-date with all the behind-the-scenes action!

From Ballroom to Broadway

Over the years, Strictly has brought us some incredible performances. We've seen celebrities dance the Foxtrot, the Tango, even the Samba! And let's not forget the Showdances - those epic, theatrical numbers that leave us in awe.

But it's not just about the dances. Strictly has given us some unforgettable moments - like when Natalie Gumede did that incredible Lifts routine with Pasha Kovalev, or when Geri Horner (yes, we still call her Ginger Spice) did the Flamenco!

And Now, Here We Are

So, how old is Strictly Come Dancing now? Well, it's been around for 18 seasons - that's almost two decades of dance, drama, and sheer entertainment! It's like that friend who's always there, ready to make our Saturday nights a little bit brighter.

And just like any good friend, Strictly keeps getting better with age. It's seen celebrities transform into dancers, it's given us some amazing music, and it's even introduced us to some incredible professional dancers who've become household names.

So, here's to another 18 seasons (at least!) of Strictly Come Dancing. Let's keep dancing, keep laughing, and keep making memories. Because, after all, isn't that what life's all about?
