Meet Alice: The Brady's Right-Hand Woman

Alice, played by the fabulous Florence Henderson, was the Brady family's live-in housekeeper. She was always there, cooking up a storm in the kitchen, cleaning the house, and keeping the peace (or trying to, with six kids running around!). But just how old was she when she joined the Brady Bunch?

Flashback to the '60s: When Alice Joined the Brady Family

Alice first appeared in the pilot episode, "The Brady Bunch," which aired on September 26, 1969. But the show was set in the late '60s, so let's rewind a bit.

In the episode "Love, Alice," we learn that Alice is 31 years old. This was revealed when she received a letter from her grandmother, who was turning 90. So, if we do the math, Alice was born in 1938.

That's right, folks! Florence was playing a character 6 years younger than herself. But don't you think she pulled it off flawlessly? She was the perfect mix of warmth, wisdom, and a little bit of sass that made Alice an instant fan favorite.

Florence Henderson: A Timeless Icon

Florence continued to play Alice until the show's final episode in 1974. After that, she made numerous appearances as Alice in various Brady Bunch spin-offs and reunion specials. Her last appearance as Alice was in 2002, in the TV movie "The Brady Bunch in the White House."
