Real-Life Inspiration

Alright, so here's the deal. Line of Duty isn't directly based on a single true story. But, it's not entirely fiction either. Creator Jed Mercurio has said he draws inspiration from real-life cases and the experiences of police officers he's interviewed.

Think of it like a delicious stew. Mercurio takes bits and pieces from various true events, mixes them together, and adds a heaping spoonful of suspense and drama. The result? A mouthwatering, edge-of-your-seat series that's got us all hooked!

AC-12: The Real Deal?

Now, let's talk about AC-12, the anti-corruption unit at the heart of the show. Is there a real-life version of these guys? Yep, you betcha! In the UK, there's a unit called the Anti-Corruption Command, which is part of the Metropolitan Police.

They're responsible for investigating allegations of corruption within the force. Sound familiar? It should, because that's pretty much what AC-12 does in the show. But remember, while the unit is real, the cases and characters in Line of Duty are fictional.

Mercurio has said he likes to take real-life events and give them a fictional twist. It's like he's saying, "Hey, this stuff really happened, but what if...?" And that's how we get those jaw-dropping plot twists that have us shouting at our screens!
