Why Is Davies Not Playing For Canada

So, you've been wondering why Alphonso Davies, the soccer sensation, isn't tearing up the pitch for Canada? Let's dive in, shall we?

First Things First: What's the Deal?

Alright, so Davies was born in Ghana, right? But he moved to Canada when he was just five. So, why isn't he representing the Maple Leaf on the international stage?

Why the Switch?

Well, Davies switched his allegiance to Canada in 2017. Why? Because he wanted to represent the country that had given him so much. Aww, isn't that sweet?

But here's the kicker: FIFA, the bigwigs of soccer, have some rules. And one of them says a player can only switch national teams once. So, Davies had to wait for an opening.

Patience is a Virtue

Davies had to bide his time, waiting for a spot to open up in the Canadian squad. It's like waiting for your favorite ice cream flavor to come up in the ice cream truck rotation, you know?

And guess what? That spot finally opened up in 2018. Davies was finally eligible to play for Canada. Cue the confetti!
