Who Was The Host Of Price Is Right

Ever found yourself shouting "Come on, Bob!" at your TV screen while watching The Price Is Right? You're not alone. This classic game show has been a part of our lives for decades, and at the helm, we've had some truly iconic hosts. But who was the original host of this beloved show? Let's dive in and find out.

Meet the OG: Bill Cullen

Before Bob Barker and Drew Carey, there was Bill Cullen. Now, you might be thinking, "Who's Bill Cullen?" Well, buckle up, because this guy was a game show legend. Born in 1920, Cullen started his career in radio, but it was TV that made him a household name.

In the 1950s and '60s, Cullen hosted a string of popular game shows like Twenty-One, The Price Is Right, and To Tell the Truth. Imagine him as the original Alex Trebek, but with a touch more charm and a lot more suits. Cullen was a smooth operator, known for his quick wit and ability to keep the games moving.

Cullen's The Price Is Right Era

Cullen took the reins of The Price Is Right when it first aired in 1956. The show was a bit different back then. It was a daytime show, and contestants didn't spin a wheel to win prizes. Instead, they guessed the prices of items, and the closest without going over won. Think of it like Jeopardy!, but with household appliances instead of trivia questions.
