Who Played Obi Wan In Star Wars

Alright, buddy, let's dive into the galaxy far, far away and talk about the man behind the hood, the Jedi Master who's as wise as he is tall - Obi-Wan Kenobi. Now, you might be thinking, "Who played this legendary character?" Well, grab your lightsaber and let's find out!

Sir Alec Guinness: The Original Obi-Wan

In the original Star Wars trilogy, the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi was played by the incredibly talented Sir Alec Guinness. Now, you might know him from other films like "Bridge on the River Kwai" or "Kind Hearts and Coronets," but let me tell you, he was absolutely brilliant as the wise old Jedi.

Guinness was already a respected Shakespearean actor when he was cast in "Star Wars." He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1970, so he was basically a real-life Jedi Master even before he stepped onto the set! He brought a certain gravitas to the role, making Obi-Wan the wise, calm, and collected mentor we all know and love.

But here's a fun fact for you - Guinness wasn't exactly thrilled about being in "Star Wars." He thought the script was "fairy tale rubbish" and only took the role for the money. Can you believe it? The man who played one of the most iconic characters in cinema history didn't think much of the script! But hey, we're glad he changed his mind, or we might not have had such a fantastic Obi-Wan.

Ewan McGregor: The Prequel Obi-Wan

Now, fast forward to the prequel trilogy, and we've got a younger, more energetic Obi-Wan played by the incredibly charming Ewan McGregor. If you've seen the prequels, you'll know that McGregor absolutely nailed the role, bringing a whole new depth to the character.

McGregor was a perfect choice for young Obi-Wan. He had the right balance of charisma, humor, and seriousness to pull off the role. Plus, he looked amazing in those Jedi robes! But here's a little secret - McGregor was so dedicated to the role that he even learned to speak a bit of Welsh to better understand the rhythm of Yoda's speech. How's that for commitment?

And let's not forget about his incredible lightsaber skills. McGregor trained for months to master the art of lightsaber dueling, and it shows in those epic battles. He even managed to make that ridiculous "Nooooo!" scene in "Revenge of the Sith" somewhat bearable. That's no mean feat, my friend!

Obi-Wan in the Future (or Past, depending on how you look at it)

Now, you might be wondering, "Who's playing Obi-Wan in the new Disney+ series, 'Obi-Wan Kenobi'?" Well, hold onto your hats, because it's none other than Ewan McGregor again! That's right, folks - the man who brought us the prequel Obi-Wan is back, and we couldn't be more excited.

McGregor will be reprising his role as the titular Jedi Master in the new series, which is set to take place between the events of "Revenge of the Sith" and "A New Hope." We don't know much about the plot yet, but we do know that it's going to be amazing to see McGregor back in action as Obi-Wan.

And who knows? Maybe we'll even get to see a little bit of that Welsh he learned all those years ago. A Jedi Master who speaks Welsh - now that's something I'd like to see!

So, Who Played Obi-Wan, You Ask?

Well, there you have it, folks. Sir Alec Guinness played the original Obi-Wan Kenobi, bringing a sense of wisdom and gravitas to the role. Ewan McGregor then took over as the younger Obi-Wan in the prequels, bringing a whole new energy and depth to the character. And now, McGregor is back to reprise his role in the new Disney+ series. It's like Obi-Wan never left us - and for that, we should all be grateful.

So, the next time you're watching "Star Wars" and you see that wise old Jedi Master, remember the incredible actors who brought him to life. And who knows? Maybe one day, we'll all get to speak Welsh like a true Jedi. Until then, may the Force be with you!
