Who Is The Voice Of Kitt On Knight Rider

Ever wondered who's the brains behind the brawn of Knight Rider's KITT? You know, that sleek, talking Trans Am that was more than just a car? Let's dive in, shall we?

Meet William Daniels

So, who's the voice behind that iconic, slightly robotic, yet oh-so-cool voice? None other than William Daniels. You might recognize him from his roles in St. Elsewhere or as the voice of Mr. Feeny in Boy Meets World. But today, we're all about KITT.

From Knight to Knight Rider

Daniels was actually the second choice for the role. The original pick, Don LaFontaine, was too busy with his voiceover work. Daniels stepped in and, well, the rest is history.

Fun fact: Daniels recorded all his lines in a studio, completely separate from the show's filming. Talk about a one-man band!

More Than Just a Voice

KITT wasn't just a voice, he was a character. And Daniels brought him to life with a unique blend of wit, wisdom, and just the right amount of snark. His performance earned him two Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe nomination.

Daniels' Secret Weapon

So, what was Daniels' secret to nailing that perfect KITT voice? He admitted to using a little device called a vocoder. You know, that thing that makes voices sound all robotic and futuristic.

But here's the kicker: Daniels wasn't a fan of the vocoder at first. He thought it made his voice sound too mechanical. But the producers loved it, and the rest is history.

Life After KITT

After Knight Rider wrapped, Daniels continued his impressive acting career. But he'll always be KITT to us. And guess what? He's still acting today, proving that age is just a number.

Next time you catch an episode of Knight Rider, listen closely. That's not just a car talking, that's William Daniels. And he's pretty darn amazing.
