Who Is The Main Character Of Star Wars

So, there I was, at my local comic-con, dressed as a Wookiee (because who doesn't love a good fur suit?), when this kid, maybe 10, tugs on my sleeve. "Hey, who's the main guy in Star Wars?" he asks. I chuckle, ruffle his hair, and think, "Where do I even start?"

Luke, Leia, Han, or...?

Now, I'm not saying the kid was wrong to ask. Star Wars is a galaxy of characters, each with their own story and fans. But when we talk about the main character, we're talking about the one who drives the plot, the one whose journey we follow from start to finish. And that, my friend, is Luke Skywalker.

I mean, think about it. The original trilogy is literally called "A New Hope," "The Empire Strikes Back," and "Return of the Jedi." It's all about Luke, from his humble beginnings on Tatooine to his epic showdown with Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine. He's the one who brings balance to the Force, the one who fulfills the prophecy of the Chosen One. So, yeah, Luke's the main guy.

But what about the others?

Now, I know what you're thinking. "What about Han Solo? He's a scoundrel, sure, but he's a lovable one!" And you're right. Han's got his own arc, going from selfish smuggler to hero of the Rebellion. But his story is intertwined with Luke's. He's not the main character, he's the co-star. Same goes for Leia. She's a badass princess and general, but her story is also tied to Luke's. They're all part of the same narrative.

And let's not forget the prequels. Anakin Skywalker, aka Darth Vader, is the main character there. His fall to the dark side sets the stage for the original trilogy. But even then, it's all about the Skywalker family. It's all connected.

So, why Luke?

Well, it's simple, really. Luke's the one who goes on the hero's journey. He's the one who starts out as a farm boy and becomes a Jedi Knight. He's the one who faces down the big bad and saves the day. That's why he's the main character. It's not to say the other characters aren't important. They are. But they're not the ones driving the main story.

Besides, if we're talking about the main character of the entire series, it's got to be Luke. He's the one who ties it all together. He's the one who brings balance to the Force. He's the one who makes the ultimate sacrifice to save his son and redeem his father. It's all about Luke.

But what about the sequels?

Ah, the sequels. Now, that's a whole other can of worms. Rey, Finn, Poe, Rose... they're all great characters, but are they the main character? That's up for debate. Some say Rey is, some say it's a team effort. Me? I think it's too early to tell. We'll have to wait and see where their stories go.

But for now, let's not forget the original trilogy. Let's not forget the hero's journey of Luke Skywalker. Because, my friend, he's the main character of Star Wars. And that's the way it is.
