Imagine you're at a party, and someone hands you a mysterious, unmarked box. You're intrigued, right? That's kinda what the grey box on Snapchat is like. It's a little mystery, a teaser, if you will, of what's to come.
Now, let's talk about that little arrow. It's like the party host giving you a hint about what's inside the box. If it's pointing up, it's telling you, "Hey, there's more content coming from this person!" If it's pointing down, it's saying, "Sorry, folks, that's all she wrote (or snapped) from this person today."

It's like when you're at the movies, and the lights are dimmed, but not off. It's a teaser, a preview, not the main feature.
