So, there I was, staring at my computer screen, the cursor blinking at me like a metronome counting down the seconds of my life. I'd just spent an hour trying to explain to our new intern why we don't use Comic Sans for client reports. And that's when it hit me. I love my job, I really do, but... well, let's just say there are a few things that make me want to pull my hair out.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I mean, who am I to complain? I've got a job in this crazy world, and it's not like I'm digging ditches in the rain (although, sometimes, I think that might be easier). But hey, we all have our pet peeves, right? So, grab a coffee, get comfy, and let's have a little chat about the things that make us want to scream "Why, God, why?" at our desks.
Meetings. Oh, the Meetings.
Let's start with the big one. Meetings. I swear, if I have to sit through one more meeting where we discuss the color of the sky, I'm going to lose it. I mean, really, who cares if the logo is a shade of blue or green? We're not designing a freaking rainbow here!

And don't even get me started on video calls. You know the ones, where half the team can't figure out how to unmute themselves, and the other half is trying to multitask and ends up looking like they're having a seizure on camera. I've started wearing my 'Out of Office' sign as a hat just to avoid them.
Email Overload
Next up, we have the dreaded email inbox. I swear, it's like a black hole. Stuff goes in, but it never comes out. I spend half my day deleting emails from people I've never met, offering me things I don't need, in languages I don't understand.
And then there are the emails from colleagues. You know the ones. The ones that say "Hi [Your Name], just a quick question..." and then proceed to ask you to solve world hunger. I've started replying with just a smiley face. It's not professional, but it's either that or set fire to my keyboard.
How to properly answer the question "What do you like least about your
Admin Nightmares
And finally, the admin tasks. Oh, how I hate the admin tasks. I'm a creative person, dammit! I want to be designing, writing, creating. Not filling out forms, updating spreadsheets, or trying to figure out why the printer won't work.
I mean, who decided that the person who can design a killer logo should also be the one to figure out why the Wi-Fi is down? I swear, if I have to reset the router one more time, I'm going to throw it out the window.
But Hey, It's Not All Bad
Alright, I've had my rant. I feel better now. But seriously, folks, it's not all bad. I mean, I get to work with some amazing people, I get to do what I love (most of the time), and at the end of the day, I get to go home and forget about it all.
So, what about you? What's the thing you like least about your job? Come on, share. Let's have a good old-fashioned moan fest. Who knows, maybe we'll feel better afterwards. Or maybe we'll just decide to run away to a deserted island together. Either way, it's worth a shot, right?
