From Pawn Shop to Prison: A Timeline

Chumlee, whose real name is Austin Lee Russell, was a fan favorite on the History Channel's reality TV show. But in 2016, his life took an unexpected turn. It all started with a search warrant executed at his Las Vegas home. Authorities were investigating a sexual assault allegation, but what they found was far more than they bargained for.

In a twist of events that would make any reality TV producer salivate, police discovered a trove of marijuana, guns, and even a small amount of methamphetamine. Chumlee was arrested and charged with 19 counts, including felony drug possession and child endangerment.

Chumlee's Charges: A Breakdown

Let's break down those charges, shall we? The most serious was possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, which stemmed from his prior felony conviction for assault with a deadly weapon. The drug charges included possession of marijuana with intent to sell, as well as possession of methamphetamine and a small amount of mushrooms.

The child endangerment charge was a result of the drugs and guns being found in his home, where his then-girlfriend's young daughter was present. Now, let's talk about that assault charge that came back to haunt him.

Back to the Assault Charge

In 2002, a then-20-year-old Chumlee was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to probation. This conviction would later play a significant role in his 2016 arrest, as it prohibited him from possessing firearms.
