Setting the Stage

Imagine this: you're sitting in your favorite armchair, record player spinning, and suddenly, the opening notes of Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon start to play. But wait, isn't that the opening scene of The Wizard of Oz on your TV? Let's rewind and see how this magical mix-up unfolds.

Syncing Up

In 1994, someone had a brilliant idea. They decided to synchronize the start of The Wizard of Oz with the start of Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon. And guess what? It works! The album's 43-minute runtime matches up perfectly with the film's 74-minute runtime, creating a seamless blend of music and visuals.

But why does this work so well? Well, it's like when you're eating your favorite pizza while watching your favorite movie - the combination just feels right. In this case, the atmospheric music of Pink Floyd complements the whimsical visuals of The Wizard of Oz, creating a unique and captivating experience.

Why Does It Work?

You might be wondering, what's the secret behind this magical synchronization? Is it just a coincidence? Or is there some deep, hidden meaning? The truth is, it's probably a bit of both. The person who first synchronized the two likely noticed that the album's track "Money" starts playing just as Dorothy lands in Oz, and the rest is history.

But here's where it gets interesting. Once you start looking for connections, you'll find them everywhere. The album's track "Time" plays during the Wicked Witch's death scene, and "The Great Gig in the Sky" accompanies Dorothy's return to Kansas. It's like the universe aligned just to give us this amazing experience.
