Leah Remini: The Unlikely Savior of Saved By The Bell
So, there I was, scrolling through Netflix the other night, you know, just casually looking for something to binge-watch. I'd already exhausted my supply of true crime docs and reality TV, and I was feeling a bit nostalgic. That's when I stumbled upon the new Saved By The Bell reboot, and I thought to myself, "Why not? It's not like I have a life or anything."
Now, I've always been a fan of the original Saved By The Bell, the one with Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez, and Tiffani Thiessen. I mean, who didn't want to be a part of the Bayside Tigers cheer squad back in the day? But I must admit, I was a bit skeptical about this reboot. I mean, how could they possibly bring back such an iconic show without it being a total disaster?
Then, in walks Leah Remini, and suddenly, I'm hooked. I mean, this woman is a force to be reckoned with. She's like the energizer bunny of comedy, always ready to go, and never afraid to speak her mind. And let me tell you, she brings that energy to this reboot in spades.
Must Read
Leah Remini: The New Principal
So, in this new version of Saved By The Bell, we find out that the original gang has all grown up and moved on. Well, except for Zack Morris, who's now the governor of California. That's right, folks. Our favorite high school prankster is now running the state. Go figure.
Anyway, long story short, Zack's son, Mac Morris, gets into some trouble and ends up transferring to Bayside High. And who's the new principal? None other than Leah Remini's character, Principal Lisa Turtle. Yes, you read that right. Lisa Turtle is now a principal. I know, right? Life comes at you fast.

Now, I won't spoil the rest of the plot for you, but let's just say that Leah Remini's character is not your typical principal. She's tough, she's funny, and she's not afraid to ruffle a few feathers. And let me tell you, it's a breath of fresh air to see a woman of color in a position of power on screen. It's about time, right?
Leah Remini: The Heart of the Show
But what I really love about Leah Remini's performance in this show is her ability to balance comedy with heart. She's hilarious, don't get me wrong, but she also brings a depth to her character that I wasn't expecting. There's a scene where she talks about her own experiences with racism, and it's a powerful moment that really grounds the show.
Leah Remini In Saved By The Bell
And let's not forget about the chemistry between Leah Remini and Mark-Paul Gosselaar. I mean, these two are comedy gold together. They have this banter that's just so much fun to watch. It's like they're picking up right where they left off, even though their characters are supposed to be enemies. It's brilliant.
Now, I'm not saying that this reboot is perfect. It's not. There are some cringe-worthy moments, and some of the jokes fall flat. But Leah Remini's performance is what makes this show worth watching. She's the heart and soul of Saved By The Bell, and I, for one, am here for it.
So, if you're looking for a show that's funny, heartwarming, and just a little bit woke, give the new Saved By The Bell a try. Just be prepared to laugh, cry, and maybe even learn a thing or two. And who knows, you might just find yourself falling in love with Leah Remini all over again. I know I did.
