First things first, what's Good Friday?

Good Friday, my friend, is the Friday before Easter. It's when Christians remember the crucifixion of Jesus. It's a big deal in many countries, but not so much in the US. Why? Well, that's where things get interesting.

So, is Good Friday a bank holiday in the US?

Not officially, no. The US has ten federal holidays, but Good Friday isn't one of them. It's like that cool party you weren't invited to. But here's where it gets quirky:

While the federal government doesn't recognize it, some states and cities do. It's like a secret club! In places like Delaware, Connecticut, and Houston, Texas, Good Friday is an official holiday. Isn't that just the cutest thing?

Why the mixed signals, US?

It's all about history, baby! The US has a diverse mix of cultures and religions. Some states have a larger Christian population, so they recognize Good Friday. Others, not so much. It's like a big, diverse potluck where everyone brings their favorite dish.
