I Love My Husband But I'm Not Happy

So, I've been sitting here, sipping my latte, and I've been thinking. You know how sometimes you're just not feeling it, even when you should be? Like, you've got this amazing husband, he's the cat's pajamas, but you're just... meh?

I mean, don't get me wrong, I love my husband. He's my partner in crime, my dance partner when I'm tipsy, my personal chef when I'm lazy. He's the one who makes me laugh until I snort (which, let's be real, is not a pretty sight). But lately, I've been feeling like I'm stuck in a rut. Like, I'm happy, but... not happy happy, you know?

I've been trying to figure out why. I mean, I've got a great life, a great guy, a great everything. So, why do I feel like I'm just going through the motions? Why does every day feel like groundhog day? Why, why, why?

Is it just me?

I started wondering if it's just me. Maybe I'm the problem. Maybe I'm just not cut out for this whole 'adulting' thing. Maybe I should just embrace the fact that I'm never going to be one of those people who wake up every morning, dancing like they're in a musical, singing 'The hills are alive...' or whatever.

But then I thought, wait a minute. I used to be one of those people. I used to wake up every morning, ready to take on the world. I used to have plans, dreams, aspirations. So, what happened?

Where did I go?

I started thinking about all the things I used to do, all the things that made me, me. I used to paint. I used to write. I used to hike. I used to... live. But somewhere along the line, I stopped. I stopped doing the things that made me happy, that made me me.

I started thinking about all the things I've been saying 'yes' to, but should have been saying 'no' to. I've been so busy being a wife, a daughter, a friend, a colleague, that I've forgotten to be me.

Finding myself again

So, I've decided to make a change. I've decided to start saying 'yes' to the things that make me happy, that make me me. I've decided to start painting again, to start writing again, to start living again. I've decided to start being me again.

And you know what? I think my husband will be happy too. Because he fell in love with me. The me that paints, that writes, that hikes. The me that's not just going through the motions, but the me that's living, that's loving, that's happy.

So, here's to finding ourselves again. Here's to saying 'yes' to the things that make us happy. Here's to being us. Because, at the end of the day, that's what makes us happy. And that's what makes our husbands happy too.
