How To Play Like A Stone On Guitar

So, you've got your guitar, and you're ready to rock like Stone? Let's dive in, my friend. Grab that coffee, get comfy, and let's chat about how to play like a legend.

First Things First: Know Your Stones

Before you start strumming, you gotta know your stuff. I'm talking about the Stones, not the fruits. Rolling Stones, baby! They're the grandpas of rock, still going strong. So, crank up "Start Me Up" or "Paint It Black", feel the vibe, and let's get started.

Tuning: In Tune, In Time

First order of business? Tuning. You don't want to sound like a cat in heat, right? The Stones usually tune to Open G. That's low to high: D-D-G-D-G-D. Don't know how to tune? Use an app, or ask a friend. If all else fails, there's always the old 'E-A-D-G-B-E' standard tuning.

Chords: The Building Blocks

Now, let's talk chords. The Stones love 'em power, and so should you. Start with the basics: G, D, C, and A. Once you've got those down, you can move on to the fancy stuff. But for now, let's keep it simple, yeah?

Strumming: Feel the Rhythm

Strumming is where you can really let loose. The Stones are all about that downstroke power. But don't forget the upstrokes too. They add that little bit of swing. Try this: down-down-up-down. Feel the rhythm, let it flow naturally.

Riffs: The Meat and Potatoes

Riffs, my friend, are the heart and soul of any Stones song. They're like little musical phrases that repeat. The best part? Once you learn one, you can play along to almost any Stones song. Start with the main riff from "Satisfaction". It's just three notes: D-Dun-Dun. Easy, right?

Solos: Let It Rip

Solos are where you can really show off. The Stones have some killer licks. But remember, it's not just about speed. It's about feeling. Listen to Keith Richards. He's the master of making simple stuff sound amazing. So, start slow, and let it rip.
