How Much Does An Nhl Ref Make

So, How Much Do NHL Refs Really Make?

Ever been to a hockey game, watching the players zoom by, and thought, "Man, I'd love to be out there, making big bucks"? Well, let's talk about the folks who are actually out there, making sure the game runs smoothly - the referees. You might be surprised to find out how much they make.

First things first, let's clear something up. NHL referees don't make as much as you might think. I mean, they're not exactly rolling in dough like the players. But hey, they're still making a pretty decent living, all things considered.

So, What's the Deal?

Alright, let's dive into the numbers. According to the NHL, referees make around $160,000 to $300,000 per season. Now, that's a pretty wide range, right? That's because refs get paid per game, and the more games they work, the more they make. It's kind of like how some people work part-time jobs, and others work full-time.

For instance, let's say you're a ref who works about 50 games in a season. You'd be looking at around $3,200 per game. Not bad, huh? But remember, these guys are working their butts off, skating up and down the ice, making tough calls, and dealing with some pretty heated players and fans. It's not all fun and games out there.

But Wait, There's More!

Now, you might be thinking, "Okay, that's cool and all, but what about the big guys? The ones who work every game?" Well, those refs can make up to $300,000 a season. That's like working a full-time job and making around $25,000 a month. Not too shabby, right?
