How Many Books In The Mistborn Series

Hey there, bookworm! Grab a cuppa, let's chat about Mistborn. You know, that epic fantasy series by Brandon Sanderson that's got more twists than a pretzel factory. Now, you might be wondering, "How many books are in this Mistborn shindig, anyway?" Well, buckle up, 'cause here we go!

Mistborn: The Original Trilogy

So, the original Mistborn trilogy, that's where it all started. Three books, one heck of a story. We've got Mistborn: The Final Empire, where we meet our hero, Vin, and dive into the grim, ash-covered world of Scadrial. Then there's The Well of Ascension, where things get even more complicated, and we're introduced to some new faces. Lastly, we've got The Hero of Ages, the grand finale that ties everything up with a neat little bow. Well, sort of. You know Sanderson, he loves his twists!

Mistborn: The Wax and Wayne Series

Thought we were done? Pfft, not a chance! Sanderson had to go and give us a whole 'nother series set in the same world, but centuries later. This time around, we've got Alloy of Law, The Well of Ascension (yes, the same name as the first trilogy's second book, but trust me, it's not a retread), Shadows for Sale, and The Lost Metal. These books follow Waxillium Ladrian and Wayne, a pair of detectives in a world that's starting to look an awful lot like the Wild West. It's a fun ride, I promise!

Mistborn: The Stormlight Archive Connection

Now, here's where things get a little weird. You might've heard that Mistborn and Sanderson's other epic series, The Stormlight Archive, are connected. Yep, you read that right. There's a whole secret history between these two worlds, and it's all tied up in those fancy little metalmind coins you see in Mistborn. Don't ask me how, I'm still trying to wrap my head around it too. But if you're feeling brave, you can check out Arcanum Unbounded, a collection of Sanderson's short stories that delves into this very connection.

Mistborn Reading Order

So, How Many Books Are There?

Alright, let's do the math. If we count the original Mistborn trilogy, the Wax and Wayne series, and the connected short stories, we're looking at a grand total of 10 books. Not bad, huh? But remember, Sanderson's always cooking up something new, so who knows? Maybe one day we'll get a whole 'nother series set in the same universe. A girl can dream, right?

And there you have it, folks! The lowdown on the Mistborn series. Now go forth, grab a book, and dive into that magical, misty world. Just remember to keep your wits about you. You never know when a twist is lurking around the corner!
