Now, you might be thinking, "But Dorothy's last name isn't mentioned in the movie!" And you're right! The classic 1939 film doesn't drop any last names. But here's where it gets interesting. The story's original source, L. Frank Baum's "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" (1900), does give our beloved heroine a full name: Dorothy Gale.

That's right! Dorothy Gale, the girl from Kansas who melted our hearts with her courage and determination, has a last name after all. Isn't that just the cherry on top of a yellow brick road sundae?

But why didn't the movie mention it? Well, that's a tale of its own. You see, the filmmakers wanted to make the story more universal, so they left out some details from the book. But don't worry, Dorothy's spirit and her last name both live on in our hearts and the countless adaptations that followed.

Now, you might be wondering, "Why does this matter?" Well, it doesn't, really. But isn't it just delightful to learn something new about a story we all know and love? It's like finding a hidden door in the Emerald City – you never know what you might discover!
