Does A Push Mower Take Regular Gas

So, there I was, Sunday morning, sun shining, birds chirping, the whole nine yards. I'd just finished my second cup of coffee, feeling like I could conquer the world. Or at least, my backyard. I grabbed my trusty old push mower, gave it a good tug, and... nothing. It just coughed and spluttered like it had a bad case of the Sunday morning blues. I stood there, hands on hips, wondering what on earth I'd done wrong. I mean, it's not like I'd asked it to mow the lawn in heels or something.

Now, I'm no stranger to the inner workings of a mower. I've changed spark plugs, cleaned air filters, even replaced the odd blade. But this time, it was a mystery. I'd filled it up the night before, but maybe I'd done something wrong? That's when it hit me. I'd grabbed the wrong can of gas. The one with the fancy schmancy ethanol blend. You know the one, it's got that smug 'E15' label, like it's better than the rest of us.

Enter the Great Gas Debate

Now, I'm not one to shy away from a good debate. But when it comes to gas for my push mower, I like to keep it simple. Regular, unleaded, no frills, no fuss. But with all these new-fangled fuels on the market, it's enough to make your head spin. So, I decided to do a little digging. You know, for science. And by 'science', I mean I asked my neighbor, who's about as mechanically inclined as they come.

"Regular gas," he said, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "Two-cycle engines, like the one in your mower, need it. The ethanol blends, they can cause all sorts of trouble. Clog up the carburetor, damage the engine over time. Not worth the risk, if you ask me."

But What About the Environment?

Now, I'm all for doing my bit for the environment. I recycle, I compost, I even have one of those fancy reusable water bottles. But when it comes to my mower, I want something that's going to get the job done without breaking the bank or my back. And it turns out, regular gas is the way to go.

You see, those ethanol blends, they might seem like they're doing the world a favor. But they can actually cause more harm than good. They can damage your engine, sure, but they can also increase emissions. That's right, you heard it here first. The gas that's supposed to be better for the environment can actually make things worse.

So, there you have it. If you've got a push mower, stick with regular gas. Your mower will thank you, and so will your wallet. And who knows, maybe you'll even have time for that third cup of coffee. Just don't ask me to mow your lawn in heels. A man's got to have some limits.
