So, Who's De La Soul?

Alright, let's rewind a bit. De La Soul is a hip-hop trio from Long Island, New York. They consist of three emcees: Posdnous, Trugoy the Dove, and Maseo. These guys are often credited with pioneering the jazz rap subgenre, which is like a smooth, mellow beat mixed with some serious rhymes.

But Why 'Three Feet High and Rising'?

Well, friend, that's a fun story! The title's a metaphor for how the group was 'rising' in the music scene, just like a tide that's 'three feet high'. Clever, huh? But here's a little secret: it was also inspired by a line from the movie 'Animal House'! De La Soul's got a sense of humor, you know?

Now, Let's Talk Tracks!

This album is a rollercoaster ride of 12 tracks, each one unique yet seamlessly blending into the next. We're talking about classics like 'The Magic Number', 'Me Myself and I', and 'Buddy'. Each track is a testament to De La Soul's creativity and versatility.

And get this, they sampled over 80 different records for this album! Talk about a musical smorgasbord. They'd chop up old school R&B, funk, and even nursery rhymes to create something entirely new. It's like they were making a musical collage, and we're all lucky enough to be looking at the finished masterpiece.
