Cast Of The Show Orange Is The New Black

So, You're Thinking About Binge-Watching 'Orange is the New Black'?

Alright, let's dive into the big house, shall we? Grab your coffee, 'cause we're about to dish out some piping hot tea on the cast of Orange is the New Black.

Our Fearless Leader: Piper Chapman

Meet Piper, our wide-eyed, privileged protagonist who finds herself in the slammer for smuggling drug money. Taylor Schilling plays her, and let's just say, Piper's journey from yuppie to inmate is about as smooth as a prison-issue jumpsuit.

Fun fact: Taylor wasn't the first choice for the role. But after seeing her audition, show creator Jenji Kohan knew she'd found her Piper. And the rest, as they say, is history - or rather, herstory.

Our Fierce Mama: Red

Kathryn Hahn brings to life the complex and captivating character of Red, the kitchen matriarch. She's like the prison's very own Gordon Ramsay, but with a Russian accent and a whole lot of drama.

Did you know Kathryn was initially hesitant to take the role? She thought she was too young to play the part. But after reading the script, she was hooked. And we're glad she was, because who else could make prison food sound so... appetizing?

Our Sassy Sidekick: Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren

Uzo Aduba's portrayal of Suzanne, or "Crazy Eyes" as she's known in Litchfield, is nothing short of extraordinary. She's quirky, she's lovable, and she's got some serious pipes on her.

Uzo actually improvised the "Crazy Eyes" nickname during her audition. And the rest, as they say, is history - or rather, herstory.

Our Troubled Teen: Tayshawn "Poussey" Washington

Samira Wiley brings depth and vulnerability to the character of Poussey, the inmate with a heart of gold and a past that's anything but.

Samira auditioned for the role of Poussey, but the casting directors had something else in mind for her - a different character entirely. But after reading for Poussey, they knew they'd found their girl. And we're glad they did, because Poussey's story is one of the show's most heart-wrenching.

Our Surprising Star: Laverne Cox as Sophia Burset

Laverne Cox's portrayal of Sophia, a trans woman serving time in a men's prison, is a tour de force. She's fierce, she's fabulous, and she's a trailblazer for trans representation on screen.

Laverne was initially hesitant to take the role, fearing it would typecast her. But after reading the script, she knew Sophia was a character she had to play. And we're all the better for it.

Our Ensemble Cast: The Inmates of Litchfield

From the hilarious to the heartbreaking, the cast of Orange is the New Black is a true ensemble. Each inmate brings their own unique story and perspective to the table, creating a rich tapestry of characters that will keep you hooked.

And the best part? The cast is as diverse as they come, reflecting the real-life diversity of the prison system. It's a breath of fresh air in a world where Hollywood often falls short in representation.

So, What Are You Waiting For?

Grab your snacks, get comfortable, and dive into the world of Litchfield. Just remember, once you start watching, it's hard to stop. And if you find yourself binge-watching all night, don't say we didn't warn you.
