Tessa Peake-Jones: From Cheese to Shakespeare, She's Our Girl!

Alright, gather 'round, folks! We're about to spill the beans on a British actress who's been stealing our hearts, one screen at a time. You might know her as Raquel, the cheese-loving, no-nonsense shopkeeper from Only Fools and Horses, but Tessa Peake-Jones is so much more than that. Let's dive in, shall we?

Raquel, Oh Raquel!

Born in London, our gal Tessa was just 24 when she landed the role of Raquel in the classic sitcom. She was the perfect foil to Del Boy's dodgy dealings, and their on-screen chemistry was as cheesy as the products in their shop. Did you know she was the only cast member to have a real-life connection to the Trotters? Her dad, Peter Jones, played the iconic character of Jonathan "Jonny" Boy, Del's uncle!

But here's where it gets even more fun. Tessa's not just a sitcom star; she's a Shakespearean! That's right, our cheese-loving heroine has tamed her tongue to speak the Bard's words. She's played roles like Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing and Lady Macbeth, proving she's got serious acting chops.

From Stage to Screen

Tessa's not one to rest on her laurels. She's popped up in all sorts of TV shows and movies, from Doctor Who to Midsomer Murders. She's even voiced characters in animated series like Peppa Pig and Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom. But here's a fun fact for you: she once played a corpse in an episode of Casualty! Talk about a deadpan performance, huh?

And if you thought she was just a small-screen sensation, think again. Tessa's also graced the West End stage, appearing in productions like The Importance of Being Earnest and The Mousetrap. She's even played Mama Morton in Chicago, belting out numbers like "When You're Good to Mama." Now that's what we call a versatile actress!

And here's one for the road: Tessa once revealed that her favorite cheese is Brie. Raquel would be proud!
