First things first, let's talk about the song itself. Released in 1973, it's become a staple of Christmas playlists worldwide. It's like the musical equivalent of a cozy sweater - you know it's coming, and you can't wait to put it on!

Royalties: The Gift That Keeps on Giving

Now, every time "Merry Xmas Everybody" plays on the radio, in a store, or on a streaming service, Slade gets a little royalty check. It's like finding a tiny stocking filled with cash hanging from your music player!

But here's the thing, the exact amount they make varies. It depends on where the song is played, how often, and the agreement they have with their record label. It's like trying to guess how many presents are under the tree - you can make an educated guess, but you won't know for sure until you start unwrapping!

Merchandise: The Slade-ing Away the Profits

Slade also makes money from merchandise. You know, those "Merry Xmas Everybody" t-shirts, mugs, and posters. Every time someone buys one, it's like they're giving Slade a little Christmas present in return!

And let's not forget the live shows. Slade still tours, and every Christmas, they play festive gigs. It's like their own little Christmas concert series, and they get to see fans enjoying their music in person. Now that's a stocking filler they can really enjoy!

So, How Much is Enough?

Here's the thing, folks. We might never know the exact figure Slade makes every Christmas. But does it really matter? What's important is that their song brings joy to millions of people every year.
