So, there I was, a few years back, standing in line at the local costume store. You know the one, it's like a circus tent threw up in there, right? I mean, who decided that a life-sized My Little Pony costume was a good idea? But I digress.
I was there because, like every other year, I was on the hunt for the perfect Halloween costume. I mean, it's not just a day, it's an experience. A chance to be anyone, or anything, you want. It's like the world's biggest dress-up party, and we're all invited!
Now, I've been a lot of things on Halloween. I've been a superhero (complete with a cape that tripped me up more than it saved me), a pirate (arrr, matey!), even a giant banana once. I mean, why not, right? But this year, I was determined to top them all. I wanted to be something epic.

But what?
That was the question. I mean, the possibilities are endless. You could be a famous historical figure, a mythical creature, a pop culture icon. You could even be a talking pineapple, if that's your thing. (No judgement here, I've seen some impressive pineapple costumes in my time.)
But here's the thing, folks. You don't need a fancy costume to be anything you want on Halloween. Or any day, for that matter. It's not about the clothes you wear, it's about the person you choose to be.
Wear whatever you want but something like scary! Halloween is coming
So, who do you want to be?
Maybe you want to be brave, like a firefighter or a superhero. Maybe you want to be kind, like a doctor or a teacher. Maybe you want to be silly, like a clown or a penguin. (I mean, who doesn't love a good penguin costume?) The point is, you can be anything you want, not just on Halloween, but every day.
Now, I'm not saying you should go around saving cats from trees or performing open-heart surgery (though, if you can, more power to you). But what I am saying is that you have the power to choose who you want to be. You can choose to be kind, to be brave, to be silly. You can choose to make someone's day a little brighter, to stand up for what's right, to laugh a little louder.
I’ll be the Angel for Halloween. You can be whatever suits you. | by
And that, my friends, is the true magic of Halloween. It's not about the candy (though, let's be real, that's a big part of it), it's about the chance to be anything you want, even if it's just for a day. So, this Halloween, I challenge you to embrace that magic. Be brave, be kind, be silly. Be you, but the best version of you that you can be.
And who knows? Maybe, just maybe, you'll like that version so much that you'll decide to stick with it. After all, every day is a chance to be anyone, or anything, you want. So, why not make it a good one?
Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got a talking pineapple costume to try on. Wish me luck!
