Who Is The Oldest Rapper Ever

So, I was cruising through my grandpa's old vinyl collection the other day, you know, just for fun. I mean, who doesn't love a good blast from the past, right? And there I was, holding this record, thinking, "Wow, this is ancient!" Then it hit me, how old is the oldest rapper ever? I mean, rap's been around for ages, but who's the granddaddy of them all?

Meet the OG: Grandmaster Flash

Alright, so you might be thinking, "Isn't Grandmaster Flash still alive?" Well, hold onto your hats, because he is! Born on January 1, 1958, Grandmaster Flash, or DJ Flash as he was known back in the day, is the oldest living rapper. Now, you might be wondering, "How old is he?" Well, as of 2023, he's 65 years young. Not too shabby, huh?

But here's the thing, Grandmaster Flash isn't just the oldest rapper, he's also a legend. I mean, we're talking about a guy who invented the "quick mix" technique, which basically changed the game for DJs everywhere. He's a pioneer, a trailblazer, and, well, he's just plain old awesome.

What about the Oldest Rapper Ever?

Now, you might be wondering, "What about the oldest rapper ever? You know, the one who's not with us anymore?" Well, that title goes to the one and only, Scotty Morrison. Born in 1916, Scotty was an American rapper and singer who passed away in 1988. He was 72 when he recorded his first and only rap album, "The Oldest Rapper Alive," in 1987. Talk about a late bloomer, huh?

Scotty's story is pretty incredible. He started rapping at the age of 71, inspired by his grandkids who were into hip-hop. He even performed at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, proving that it's never too late to follow your dreams. Sadly, he passed away just a year after releasing his album, but his legacy lives on.

So, Who's the Oldest Rapper Alive Today?

After Grandmaster Flash, the next oldest living rapper is Kurtis Blow. Born on August 9, 1959, Kurtis is 63 years old as of 2023. He's a legend in his own right, being one of the first commercially successful rappers and the first to sign with a major record label.

Following Kurtis is Lil' Kim, born on July 11, 1974, making her 48 years old in 2023. Now, I know what you're thinking, "But Lil' Kim's not even 50 yet!" Well, you're right, but remember, we're talking about the oldest rappers here, not the ones with the most wisdom (though Lil' Kim's got plenty of that too!).

Age is Just a Number

You know, the more I looked into this, the more I realized that age really is just a number. I mean, these rappers have been around the block a few times, but they're still out there, making music, performing, and inspiring new generations. It's pretty amazing, isn't it?

So, the next time you think you're too old for something, remember Grandmaster Flash, Scotty Morrison, Kurtis Blow, and Lil' Kim. They're proof that it's never too late to follow your dreams, no matter how old you are. Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got some vinyl to listen to.
