When Is The Full Moon October

So, you're curious about when the full moon is in October, huh? Well, grab a seat, because I've got some lunar lore that'll make you howl with laughter. Let's dive in!

Mark Your Calendars, Folks!

First things first, let's get the dates out of the way. In October 2023, the full moon is set to grace us with its presence on the 5th and the 31st. Yes, you read that right, we're getting a blue moon this year! But more on that later.

Now, you might be thinking, "Why two full moons in one month? Isn't that like getting two slices of pizza when you only ordered one?" Well, my friend, that's the magic of the Hunter's Moon and the Blue Moon. It's like the lunar equivalent of a buy-one-get-one-free deal. You're welcome.

When the Moon's a-Piecing...

You know how the moon waxes and wanes like a drama queen? Well, the full moon happens when the Earth is directly between the Sun and the Moon. It's like a cosmic game of Twister, and we're the dot in the middle. The Sun is pulling on the Moon, and the Moon is pulling on us. It's like the world's most intense tug-of-war, and we're the rope.

But why does the full moon only happen once a month? Well, that's because the Moon takes about 29.5 days to orbit the Earth. It's like a lunar Groundhog Day, except instead of a groundhog, it's a giant, glowing cheese wheel in the sky.

It was like the lunar version of Black Friday, but instead of fighting over TVs, they were fighting over deer. And let me tell you, those ancient hunters had some serious multitasking skills. They had to track their prey, avoid getting lost in the woods, and make sure they didn't accidentally shoot their buddy. Talk about a high-stakes game of laser tag.

A blue moon isn't actually that rare. It happens every 2.7 years, on average. It's like the lunar equivalent of a leap year.

So, what makes a blue moon blue? Unfortunately, it's not because the moon turns into a giant blueberry. It's actually a bit of a misnomer. The term "blue moon" originally referred to the third full moon
