What Was Said At The Bafta Awards

BAFTA Night: The Laughs, Tears, and Surprises

So, you missed the BAFTAs? No worries, I've got the goss straight from the red carpet. Grab a cuppa, let's spill the tea!

The Host with the Most

This year, we had Joel Dommett at the helm, and boy, did he bring the laughs! He opened with a joke about the Queen's speech, saying she'd be "delighted" to see the "diversity" in the nominees. Cheeky!

And what's a BAFTAs without a nod to the royal family? Dommett joked about Prince Harry and Meghan, saying they'd be "proud" to see the "most diverse" royal family on screen. Cue the chuckles!

The Big Winners

Now, let's talk winners! Everything Everywhere All at Once cleaned up, scooping up seven awards. Seven! That's more than the number of times I've tried to explain the plot to my nan.

And how about Cate Blanchett? She won Best Actress for Tár, and her speech was as elegant as her dress. She thanked her "incredible" co-star, saying he was "the best scene partner a girl could ask for." Aw!

The Surprises

Now, here's where things get interesting. Ke Huy Quan won Best Supporting Actor for Everything Everywhere.... You know, the kid from Indiana Jones and The Goonies? Mind. Blown.

And get this, All Quiet on the Western Front won Best Film Not in the English Language. I mean, it's a mouthful, but it's a mighty impressive win!

The Fashion

BAFTAs, BAFTAs, BAFTAs - where do I even start with the fashion? Cue the Andra Day in a sparkly number that had me seeing stars. And Naomie Harris in a dress that was part dress, part art installation. I mean, it was fabulous, but I'm not sure it was practical for the after-party.

The Tears

Now, let's get serious for a sec. Troy Kotsur won Best Supporting Actor and gave a speech that had the room reaching for the tissues. He talked about his journey, from being bullied as a kid to standing on that stage. It was a moment, alright.

And Lizzo performed This Is the Night from Everything Everywhere..., and it was... well, it was something else. I mean, she's Lizzo, so you know it was a showstopper.

And That's a Wrap!

So there you have it, folks! The BAFTAs in a nutshell. It was a night of laughter, tears, and a whole lot of '80s movie references. Until next time, folks!
