What Time Do The Oscars Start Uk

Hey there, movie buff! You're probably wondering, "When do the Oscars start in the UK?" Well, grab a cuppa, get comfy, and let's chat about it.

First things first, what's the big day?

The Academy Awards, or Oscars, are held annually in February. The exact date can vary, but it's usually the last Sunday of the month. In 2023, that's the 12th, so mark your calendars!

Now, what time does the red carpet roll out?

The Oscars start with the red carpet arrivals, and that's typically around 11 pm UK time. But remember, this is Hollywood we're talking about. Fashionably late is the name of the game, so don't be surprised if things kick off a tad later.

And the actual ceremony?

Alright, now we're talking! The main event begins at 1:30 am UK time. Yes, you read that right. It's a late one, but think of it as a fancy dress party that goes on all night long. Just make sure you've got your snacks and drinks ready. Popcorn and prosecco, anyone?

What about the time difference for our friends across the pond?

If you've got pals in the US, they'll be tuning in at 5:30 pm PT (Pacific Time) or 8:30 pm ET (Eastern Time) on the West and East Coasts, respectively. That's when the magic happens live from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

Why so late, you ask?

Well, the Oscars are a global event, and the Academy wants to make sure as many people as possible can watch the live telecast. So, they schedule it for prime time in the US, which unfortunately means the rest of us have to stay up late. But hey, it's not every day you get to see A-listers dressed to the nines, right?

Any tips for surviving the night?

First, make sure you've got a comfy spot to park yourself. Then, stock up on snacks – we're talking all the classics here: popcorn, chocolate, crisps, the works. And don't forget to stay hydrated! A few energy boosts here and there wouldn't go amiss either. You know, just to keep you going.
