What Is Paul Martin Doing Now

So, there I was, digging through my old vinyl collection the other day, and who do I stumble upon but an old Paul Martin record. You know, the guy who was Canada's Prime Minister back in the day. It got me thinking, "I wonder what he's up to now?"

You might be wondering the same thing, or maybe you're just here for the nostalgia trip. Either way, let's dive in and find out what Paul Martin has been up to since he stepped down from politics.

From Politics to Philanthropy

After leaving politics in 2006, Martin didn't exactly retire to a quiet life. Instead, he turned his attention to philanthropy, setting up the Paul Martin Foundation in 2008. The foundation focuses on promoting good governance and democracy, both in Canada and around the world.

Now, I don't know about you, but I find that pretty impressive. It's like he decided, "Politics isn't enough, I need to make a difference on a global scale."

Chairman of the Board

Martin's not just sitting back and letting the foundation run itself, though. He's actively involved as the Chairman of the Board. In this role, he's been instrumental in initiatives like the Democracy Xchange, which aims to strengthen democracy by promoting dialogue and understanding between different cultures and political systems.

I mean, can you imagine having Paul Martin at your board meetings? The guy's got some serious clout, and I'm sure he's not afraid to use it to get things done.

Back to His Roots

But it's not all global politics for Martin. He's also gone back to his roots, literally. He's been spending more time at his family's vineyard in Quebec, Domaine de la Valley de Jacmel. He's even started making wine, which he calls Paul Martin Vineyards.

I've got to admit, I'm a bit jealous. I mean, who wouldn't want to spend their days making wine and looking out over a beautiful vineyard? But hey, I guess that's the perk of being a former Prime Minister.

Writing His Story

Martin's also taken some time to reflect on his political career. In 2010, he published his memoir, Hell or High Water: My Life In and Out of Politics. It's a fascinating read, by the way. He doesn't hold back, giving us an insider's look at Canadian politics during some of its most tumultuous times.

I've always been curious about what goes on behind the scenes in politics, so I found his book really insightful. Plus, it's always interesting to hear about a politician's personal life and the decisions that shaped their career.

Still Making Waves

So, there you have it. Paul Martin might have left politics, but he's certainly not sitting still. He's using his experience and influence to make a difference in the world, one way or another.

Whether he's promoting good governance, making wine, or writing about his past, one thing's for sure: Paul Martin is still making waves. And I, for one, am looking forward to seeing what he does next.

But now, I've got to get back to my vinyl collection. Who knows who else I'll stumble upon? Maybe I'll find out what happened to that one-hit wonder from the 80s. Until next time, folks!
