Is Eid On Thursday Or Friday

Hey there, coffee in hand? Let's chat about Eid, yeah? You know, that time of the year when we're all like, "Is it today? Is it tomorrow? Let's just wear our new clothes and hope for the best!"

So, Thursday or Friday? Let's break it down.

First things first, Eid is based on the lunar calendar. It's like the moon's personal party planner, always moving things around. So, it's not like Christmas, where we know it's always December 25th. No, no, no. Eid's a bit more... spontaneous.

Now, the big question: Is Eid on Thursday or Friday? Well, it depends on the moon, of course. Here's the dealio - the night before Eid, the moon has to be sighted. If it's sighted on Wednesday night, Eid is on Thursday. If it's not sighted until Thursday night, then Eid is on Friday. Simple, right? wink

But wait, there's more! The whole 'sighting' thing.

So, this 'sighting' business, it's not as easy as looking out your window and going, "Ooh, there's the moon! It's Eid!" No, no, no. There's a whole committee of moon spotters, called a 'moonsighting committee'. They have special equipment and everything. It's like they're NASA, but for Eid.

And get this, they don't just look for the moon anywhere. Oh no, they have specific criteria. The moon has to be at least 12 hours old, and it has to be visible with the naked eye. No binoculars, no telescopes. Just good old-fashioned moon gazing. Isn't that something?

Now, you might be thinking, "But what if it's cloudy?"

Ah, the age-old question. If it's cloudy, the committee might use other methods, like 'presumptive sighting'. It's like they're assuming the moon is out there, hiding behind the clouds, waiting for its big moment. But don't worry, they don't do this lightly. They've got rules and regulations for everything.

And if all else fails, there's always the hilarious 'I saw it on Facebook' method. You know, that one post where someone's like, "The moon is out! Eid Mubarak!" and suddenly everyone's like, "Yay, Eid!" laughs

When is Eid in 2026, 2027, 2028?

But seriously, folks, it's all about the moon.

So, there you have it. Eid is on Thursday if the moon is sighted on Wednesday night, and it's on Friday if it's not. Easy peasy, right? Well, maybe not. But at least now you know the deal with the moon. And hey, if you're still confused, just keep an eye on the news. They'll announce it soon enough. And remember, no matter what day it is, Eid is always a time for joy, family, and lots and lots of food. smiles

Now, who's ready for another coffee? My treat!
