How Much Do Nfl Kickers Make

Kicking It with the NFL's Kicker: A Salary Chat

Ever wondered what it's like to be the hero of the last second, the calm amidst the storm, the kicker who can send a stadium into a frenzy? Let's dive into the world of NFL kickers and chat about what they bring home.

First things first, why should you care about how much NFL kickers make? Well, picture this: you're at a tailgate party, the game's on the line, and it's fourth down. The crowd's on their feet, hearts pounding. Suddenly, your team's kicker walks onto the field. He's not just another player; he's the one who can change the game with a single kick. Isn't that worth knowing a bit more about?

From the Ground Up

Now, let's talk base salaries. In the NFL, kickers start at the rookie minimum, which is currently around $610,000 a year. That's not too shabby for a first job, right? It's like going from minimum wage at your local coffee shop to being the barista manager, all in one leap.

But remember, not all kickers are created equal. Some are absolute legends, like Justin Tucker, who's known for his ice-cold kicks and perfect 50+ yard field goal record. So, what do you think he makes? Well, he's signed a deal worth up to $20.8 million over four years, with $10.5 million guaranteed. That's like going from your entry-level job to being the CEO overnight!

Kickers: The Unsung Heroes

Here's where it gets interesting. Kickers might not get the same hype as quarterbacks or running backs, but they're crucial. They're the ones who can win you the game in the final seconds. So, why shouldn't they be paid like the superstars they are?

Take Adam Vinatieri, for example. He's the NFL's all-time leading scorer, with a career total of 2,673 points. That's more than any other player in history. He's kicked game-winning field goals in the playoffs, and he's a four-time Super Bowl champion. Yet, he's never been the highest-paid player on his team. Isn't it time we appreciate these kickers a little more?

More Than Just a Kick

Kickers aren't just about the big moments, though. They're also responsible for extra points after touchdowns, which might seem like a breeze, but can be a game-changer if they miss. And let's not forget the pressure of kickoffs, where they need to send the ball soaring into the end zone for a touchback, or place it perfectly for their team to recover.

So, the next time you're watching a game, and the kicker steps up to the ball, remember, they're not just another player. They're the ones who can turn a game around with a single kick. And maybe, just maybe, they deserve that big paycheck after all.
