How Many Pyramids Are In The World

So, you've been wondering, "How many pyramids are there in the world?" I mean, it's not like we're counting stars in the galaxy or something, right? Let's dive in, grab a coffee, and chat about this fascinating topic.

Let's Start With The Obvious

When we think of pyramids, Egypt immediately comes to mind. The Great Pyramid of Giza is the most famous, standing tall since 2560 BCE. It's like the grandpa of all pyramids, isn't it? But Egypt isn't the only country with these architectural marvels. No, no, that would be too easy.

Egypt's Pyramid Population

Egypt has around 130 pyramids, give or take. I know, I know, you're thinking, "That's it? I expected more from the land of pharaohs and hieroglyphs." But remember, we're talking about ancient pyramids here. They didn't have IKEA back then, so building a pyramid was no easy task.

Now, Let's Explore Beyond Egypt

You might be surprised to know that pyramids aren't just a thing of the past. Oh no, they're still being built today! Take Mexico, for instance. The Temple of the Feathered Serpent in Teotihuacan is a pyramid that's still standing proud. And let's not forget the Pyramid of the Sun in the same city. It's the largest structure in Teotihuacan, and it's not even a tomb! Talk about a twist, huh?

Pyramids Around The World

Now, let's take a little world tour, shall we? We've got pyramids in China, like the Fengdu pyramids, which are part of a complex of shrines dedicated to the afterlife. Then there's Central America, with the Mayan pyramids in places like Guatemala and Honduras. And hey, even Europe has a pyramid or two, like the Pyramid of Cestius in Rome.

And What About Modern Pyramids?

You thought we were done? Oh, no, no, no. Let's talk about the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas. It's a pyramid, it's shiny, and it's got a big ol' sphinx guarding it. Talk about a modern twist on an ancient theme, right?
