Assanti Brothers Where Are They Now

Hey there, curious minds! Ever found yourself humming a tune from "The Lion King" or "Aladdin," and wondered, "What happened to those guys who brought us such unforgettable music?" Well, buckle up, because we're about to take a fun ride down memory lane to catch up with the Assanti Brothers – the powerhouse duo behind some of Disney's most iconic songs!

Who were the Assanti Brothers, again?

If you're scratching your head, don't worry, you're not alone! The Assanti Brothers – Alan and David – were the musical masterminds behind some of Disney's most beloved tunes in the '90s. Remember "Circle of Life" from "The Lion King"? That's Alan's handiwork! And who could forget "A Whole New World" from "Aladdin"? That magical melody is David's brainchild.

So, where are they now?

Let's dive right in and see what these talented brothers have been up to!

Alan Menken – The Maestro

Alan Menken, the elder of the two, has been keeping busy since his Disney days. He's continued to compose music for films, TV shows, and even Broadway productions. You might have heard his work in "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," "Pocahontas," or "Beauty and the Beast" (the live-action version, that is).

But here's something you might not know: Alan's also been dabbling in the world of video games! That's right, he's composed music for games like "Kingdom Hearts" and "Sega Superstars Tennis." Talk about a diverse resume!

David Zippel – The Lyricist

David Zippel, the younger brother, has been busy crafting lyrics for various projects since his Disney days. He's worked on Broadway shows like "The Goodbye Girl" and "City of Angels," and even wrote lyrics for the 2017 animated film "The Star."

But here's a fun fact: David's also a bit of a history buff! He's written lyrics for several songs about historical figures, including "Thomas Jefferson: Syllabus" and "The Ballad of Yul Brynner." Now that's a unique niche!
