Hey there, punters and horse racing enthusiasts! Let's dive into the thrilling world of the 2023 Melbourne Cup Order of Entry. Buckle up, because we're about to have a blast!

What's the Melbourne Cup Order of Entry, you ask?

Imagine you're at the coolest party of the year, and the host has a list of who's invited and in what order they'll make their grand entrance. That's basically the Melbourne Cup Order of Entry! It's a list that tells us which horses are invited to the 'race that stops a nation' and in what order they'll be drawn for the barrier.

So, why should you care?

Well, for starters, it's like getting a sneak peek into the biggest horse racing event in the Southern Hemisphere! It's our first clue into who the hot contenders are and who the underdogs might be. Plus, it's just plain exciting to see who's made the cut!

How does it work?

The Order of Entry is based on a horse's performance in qualifying races throughout the year. The better they perform, the higher they climb up the list. It's like a horse racing merit system, if you will. The top 24 horses on the list get an automatic invite to the Melbourne Cup, with the rest going into a ballot for the remaining spots.

But here's the twist: the Order of Entry doesn't just determine who's invited, it also influences where each horse starts on the track. That's right, it's not just about who's invited, but where they're placed in the starting gate. And believe me, that can make a world of difference in a horse race!
