Top Gun How Old Was Tom Cruise

So, you've been cruising through Netflix, right? And suddenly, you find yourself face-to-face with the classic that is Top Gun. You're all "Yeah, I've seen this!" But then, you start wondering, "Just how old was Tom Cruise when he was showing off those sweet Maverick moves?"

First things first, let's set the scene. Top Gun was released in 1986, a time when hair was big, and the Cold War was... well, cold. Tom Cruise was just a young whippersnapper, fresh off the success of Risky Business and Cocktail. He was the original heartthrob, and we were all about it.

Now, let's get down to business. Tom Cruise was born on July 3, 1962. So, when Top Gun hit the theaters, he was a mere 23 years old. Yes, you read that right. He was practically a baby! I mean, can you even remember what you were doing at 23? Probably not trying to out-fly Val Kilmer in a fighter jet, that's for sure.

But here's the kicker. Cruise was so young, he had to lie about his age to enlist in the Navy. I know, right? The guy was such a badass, he was ready to join the military before he could even rent a car. Talk about commitment.

And if you're thinking, "Okay, but what about when they were filming? How old was he then?" Well, my friend, the movie was shot in 1985 and 1986. So, Cruise was 23 and 24 during production. Still young enough to pull off that leather jacket and aviator sunglasses combo without looking like he was trying too hard.

Now, I know what you're thinking. "But what about the sequel, Top Gun: Maverick? How old is he now?" Well, that one's a bit of a shocker. The movie came out in 2022, and Cruise is... drumroll please... 59. Yes, you read that right. The guy is practically ancient in Hollywood years. But you know what? He still looks good in a flight suit. I mean, have you seen that movie? The man can still fly.

So there you have it. Tom Cruise was 23 when he first took to the skies in Top Gun. And even though he's older now, he's still giving us all the feels with his high-flying antics. Now, who's ready to go see Top Gun: Maverick for the third time?
