How Old Were The Actors In Cocoon

First up, we've got the dynamic duo, Don Ameche and Hume Cronyn, playing the lovable old-timers, Ben and Arthur. Now, these two were already seasoned actors by the time Cocoon rolled around. Don Ameche was a cool 73, and Hume Cronyn was a sprightly 75. Can you even imagine being that young today? I mean, I'm still trying to figure out how to work my smart fridge!

But seriously, folks, these guys were practically babies compared to some of their contemporaries. I mean, did you know that Orson Welles was 42 when he directed Citizen Kane? Mind. Blown.

Jessica Tandy - The Matriarch

Now, let's talk about the fabulous Jessica Tandy, who played the wise and wonderful Ida. She was a mere 65 when she filmed Cocoon. Yes, you read that right. 65. And she looked amazing, didn't she? I mean, I'm 30, and I still can't figure out how to get my hair to look that good in the morning.

Tandy was already a stage legend by then, but Cocoon was her first major film role. And boy, did she knock it out of the park! She even got an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Not bad for a lady who was practically a spring chicken!

Steve Guttenberg and Tahnee Welch - The Young'uns

Alright, let's talk about the whippersnappers of the group, Steve Guttenberg and Tahnee Welch. They played the young, curious couple, Jack and Kitty. Now, these two were practically babies compared to the rest of the cast. Steve was a fresh-faced 27, and Tahnee was a youthful 26.

Cocoon Cast Now: What Really Happened To Don Ameche And Wilford Brimley

Can you even imagine being that young and getting to act alongside legends like Don Ameche and Jessica Tandy? I mean, I'd probably have passed out from excitement!

Glen Close - The Alien Lady

And finally, let's not forget about the stunning Glenn Close, who played the mysterious alien lady, Mary. She was a relatively young 48 when she filmed Cocoon. I mean, can you believe it? She looks amazing, and she's practically a senior citizen in Hollywood years!

Close was already making waves in Hollywood, with iconic roles in films like Fatal Attraction and The Big Chill under her belt. But Cocoon was a chance for her to show off her comedic chops. And boy, did she deliver!

Cocoon Movie Actors

So, How Old Were They Really?

Alright, so let's do a quick recap. The average age of the main cast of Cocoon was around 60. That's right, folks. The actors playing the seniors were, on average, younger than some of the directors and producers working on the film today!

It just goes to show that age is just a number, and you're never too old (or too young) to make some magic on the silver screen. And that, my friends, is the real beauty of Cocoon.

So, the next time you watch Cocoon, remember to appreciate the incredible talent and energy of these amazing actors. And who knows? Maybe you'll feel a little younger yourself, just like the characters in the film!

Until next time, folks. Keep on cocooning!
