How Old Was Joanna Lumley In Ab Fab

Age is Just a Number, Darling: Joanna Lumley in Ab Fab

Ever found yourself wondering, "How old was Joanna Lumley in Absolutely Fabulous?" Well, grab a cup of Patsy's favorite champagne, because we're about to dive into that very question. Now, I know what you're thinking, "Why should I care about this, I'm just here for the laughs and the fabulous outfits." And you're right, darling, Ab Fab is all about the glitz and the giggles, but bear with me, there's a story here that's as delightful as a box of chocolates.

First things first, let's set the scene. Ab Fab, created by the brilliant Jennifer Saunders, first graced our screens in 1992. It was a time when grunge was in, mobile phones were the size of bricks, and the British pound was worth something. Joanna Lumley, our beloved Patsy Stone, was already a well-known face, thanks to her role in The New Avengers in the 70s and her iconic BT commercials in the 80s.

So, how old was she?

When Ab Fab first aired, Joanna Lumley was a sprightly 46 years old. Yes, you heard it right, 46! Now, I know what you're thinking, "But she looked so young, so fabulous!" And you're right, darling, she did. But remember, age is just a number, and Joanna Lumley is a timeless treasure.

Think about it like this. When Ab Fab started, Princess Diana was still with us, the Berlin Wall had just come down, and the first text message was sent. Joanna Lumley was already a seasoned actress, with a career spanning over two decades. She was like a fine wine, getting better with age, and ready to play the fabulous, outrageous Patsy Stone.

Why should we care?

Now, you might be wondering, "Why does any of this matter?" Well, darling, it matters because Joanna Lumley's age when she played Patsy Stone is a testament to her talent and the show's enduring appeal. Ab Fab was never about age or youth; it was about friendship, laughter, and embracing your fabulous self, no matter what your age.

Joanna Lumley at 80 - 'I'd jump at the chance to return to AbFab!' - OK

Think about your own life. You've got friends who are younger than you, and friends who are older. But when you're all together, laughing and having a good time, does anyone really care about the age difference? No, darling, they don't. It's the same with Ab Fab. We love Patsy and Edina for their hilarious antics, not for their age.

Moreover, Joanna Lumley's age when she played Patsy Stone is a reminder that age is just a number. It's what you do with your life that counts. Lumley could have been content with her already impressive career, but she chose to take on the role of Patsy Stone, a character that would become iconic and beloved by millions.

Age is just a state of mind

You know, I've always believed that age is just a state of mind. I mean, think about it. There are people in their 20s who act like they're 80, and there are people in their 80s who act like they're 20. It's all about attitude, and Joanna Lumley's attitude towards age is as fabulous as her character, Patsy Stone.

Lumley once said, "Age is no barrier. It's a Reward for all your experiences." And she's right, darling. Every year, every experience, every laugh line is a testament to a life well-lived. So, the next time you're watching Ab Fab, raise a glass of champagne to Joanna Lumley, not just for her fabulous performance, but for her fabulous attitude towards age.

In conclusion, Joanna Lumley was 46 when she first played Patsy Stone in Absolutely Fabulous. But more importantly, she was, and still is, a fabulous, timeless treasure. So, here's to Joanna Lumley, to Patsy Stone, and to embracing your fabulous self, no matter what your age. Cheers, darling!
