Bob's Early Life: A Young Gun

Born in 1862, Bob grew up in Missouri, a time and place filled with tales of adventure and danger. He was just a young'un when the Civil War ended, and the Wild West was in full swing. Bob, with his brother Charlie, was eager to make a name for themselves in this exciting world.

They joined up with the James-Younger Gang, a notorious bunch led by none other than Jesse James himself. Bob was just a teenager when he started his career as an outlaw. Can you imagine? Talk about a rite of passage!

Fast Forward to the Fateful Day

Years passed, and Bob, now in his mid-twenties, started to get a taste for the spotlight. He wanted a bigger share of the gang's loot and figured the best way to get it was to take out Jesse. Talk about a risky move!

On April 3, 1882, Bob walked into the house where Jesse was staying, pulled out his revolver, and shot Jesse in the back of the head. Bang! Just like that, one of the most famous outlaws in history was no more.

Bob thought he'd be hailed as a hero, but the people of Missouri weren't too pleased with his actions. They saw it as a cowardly act, and Bob was arrested for murder. He was sentenced to hang, but the governor commuted his sentence to life in prison.

Bob spent the next three years behind bars, but his luck ran out in 1884. A fellow inmate, Edward O'Kelley, shot and killed Bob in cold blood. Bob Ford was just 22 years old when he died.
