So, I was walking my dog the other day, and I bumped into a little girl who was absolutely obsessed with the Minions. She was wearing a Gru t-shirt, had a Agnes doll tucked under her arm, and was chattering away about the "Despicable Me" movies. It got me thinking, "How old is that adorable little Poppy in the latest movie?"
Poppy's Age: A Mystery?
Now, you might be thinking, "Wait a minute, isn't Poppy a grown-up in 'Despicable Me 4'?" Well, yes, she is. But let's rewind a bit. In the first movie, she's introduced as a young girl, and her age is never explicitly stated. Isn't that sneaky of the writers?
I mean, come on! We've seen her grow up through the movies, but they've never given us a straight answer about her age. It's like they're playing a big, mischievous game of hide and seek with us, their eager audience.

Age Progression: A WildGuess
Alright, let's do some detective work. The first 'Despicable Me' movie was released in 2010. If we assume Poppy was around 8 or 9 years old then, and the movies are set in a world that's roughly parallel to ours, we can make an educated guess.
Poppy Cat Despicable Me 4
By 'Despicable Me 4', which came out in 2024 (in our reality, not the Minions'!), Poppy would be around 16 or 17. But remember, this is just a guess. The Minions' world might have a different timeline, and age progression could be different too. After all, they do have a time machine!
Why Does It Matter?
You might be wondering, "Why does Poppy's age even matter?" Well, it doesn't, really. Not in the grand scheme of things. The movies are about laughter, adventure, and family, not about keeping track of Poppy's birthday.

But hey, it's fun to speculate, isn't it? It's like a little Easter egg for us grown-ups, while the kids are busy laughing at the Minions' antics. So, the next time you watch 'Despicable Me', you can play along and decide for yourself how old Poppy is.
And who knows? Maybe Illumination Studios will finally reveal Poppy's age in the next movie. Until then, let's keep guessing and enjoy the ride!
