How Old Is Musty Rocket League

So, there I was, minding my own business in the virtual world of Rocket League, when I found myself face to face with a car that looked like it had been through a few too many matches. I mean, it was still driving, but it had more dents than a crumpled-up piece of paper. I couldn't help but think, "Wow, that car is old."

And that got me thinking, how old is my trusty rocket-powered ride, anyway? I mean, I've had it since the game came out, but I've no idea how many matches it's been through. So, I decided to do a little digging, and here's what I found.

Rocket League: The Early Days

Rocket League was released on July 7, 2015. That's right, it's been around for six years now. I know, I know, it feels like just yesterday we were all trying to figure out how to actually hit the ball with our cars. But I digress.

Now, if you're like me, you've probably been playing since day one. And if you're like me, your car is probably looking a little worse for wear. But how old is it, really? Is it a senior citizen in gaming years, or is it still a spring chicken?

Age in Gaming Years

You might be thinking, "Well, if Rocket League came out in 2015, and it's 2021 now, then my car is six years old." And you'd be right. But, as with humans, age in gaming years is a little different.

You see, games age faster than people. A game that's been out for five years is like a human that's been around for, say, 40. It's seen a lot, it's been through a lot, and it's probably got a few stories to tell. So, in gaming years, my car is more like a 40-year-old human. Scary, right?

But How Old Is It, Really?

Alright, enough with the metaphors. Let's get down to business. How old is my car, really? Well, that depends on how you measure it.

If you're talking about the number of matches it's been through, well, that's a tough one. Rocket League doesn't keep track of that. But if you're talking about the number of hours it's been played, that's a different story.

Psyonix, the developers of Rocket League, have been kind enough to keep track of that for us. And as of my last check, my car had racked up over 1,000 hours of playtime. That's right, my car has spent more time on the field than I have at my day job. Scary, right?

So, How Old Is It?

Well, that depends on how you look at it. In human years, my car is six. In gaming years, it's more like 40. And in playtime years, it's over 1,000. But no matter how you slice it, one thing's for sure: my car is old. Like, really old.

But you know what? I don't care. Because no matter how many dents it's got, no matter how many hours it's racked up, it's still my car. It's still the car that's scored me more goals than I can count. It's still the car that's been with me through all the ups and downs of Rocket League. And that, my friends, is something special.

So, here's to my old, beat-up car. Here's to the hours we've spent together, the goals we've scored, and the matches we've won. And here's to many more hours, many more goals, and many more wins. Because, at the end of the day, it's not about how old your car is. It's about how many memories you've made with it.
