Alright, let's dive into this like we're sitting down for a chat over a steaming cup of coffee. You've probably heard of Newsies, that feel-good musical about a bunch of scrappy newsboys taking on the bigwigs in New York City. It's like David and Goliath, but with more singing and dancing. Now, you might be wondering, "Hey, how old is Jack Kelly in Newsies?" Well, let's find out!
First things first, Jack Kelly is the main character, played by the charismatic Christian Bale in the 1992 film, and by the equally charming Jeremy Jordan in the 2012 stage production. Now, you might be thinking, "I know Jeremy Jordan! He's that guy from The Last Five Years and Smash!" Yep, that's him. But back to Jack Kelly.
In the story, Jack is a 17-year-old newsboy, which is pretty young, right? But here's where it gets a bit tricky. The character of Jack Kelly was actually inspired by a real-life newsboy, Kid Blink, who was only 11 when he led the newsboys' strike in 1899. Isn't that something? So, even though Jack Kelly is 17 in the story, the real-life inspiration was a lot younger.

Knowing Jack's age can make us appreciate his courage and determination even more.
But let's not forget, Newsies is all about having fun and singing along to those catchy tunes.
