How Old Is Geena Davis The Actress

Hey there, coffee companion! You know, we were just chatting about those classic movies, and I thought to myself, "Self, have you ever wondered how old Geena Davis is?" I mean, she's been around forever, right? Or at least, it feels like it. So, let's dive in!

So, Geena, how old are you?

Well, as of my last coffee break, Geena Davis is 66 years young. Yes, you heard it right! Born on January 29, 1956, she's been gracing our screens for what feels like an eternity. But you know what they say, "Age is just a number," and Geena is living proof of that!

Wait, she's been around since the '80s?

Yep, you betcha! Geena's been in the game since the early '80s. Her first major role was in the 1982 film "Tootsie," where she played Julie Nichols. I mean, can you believe it's been that long? I still remember watching that movie on VHS (yes, I'm that old too!).

But it was her role as Muriel in "The Fly" in 1986 that really got people talking. I mean, who can forget that iconic scene with Jeff Goldblum? Eek! Gross, but memorable, right?

Her big break and beyond

Geena's big break came in 1988 with "The Accidental Tourist." She played Muriel Pritchett, and her performance earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Not too shabby, huh?

And then, of course, there was "Beetlejuice" in 1988. I mean, who doesn't love a good ghost story with a side of Tim Burton weirdness? Geena played Barbara Maitland, and let me tell you, that red hair and that laugh are forever etched in my memory.

But wait, there's more!

Geena didn't stop at movies. Oh no, she ventured into TV too! She starred in the critically acclaimed series "Commander in Chief" in 2005-2006. She played Mackenzie Allen, the first female U.S. President. Talk about breaking barriers!

And let's not forget her advocacy work. Geena founded the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media in 2004. She's been using her star power to promote gender equality in the entertainment industry. Isn't that just fabulous?

So, what's she up to now?

Well, my curious coffee friend, Geena hasn't slowed down one bit. She's been keeping busy with various projects. She had a recurring role in the TV series "Grey's Anatomy" a few years back. And she's also been involved in some documentaries and indie films.

Oh, and get this - she's an Olympic-level archer! Yes, you heard it right. Geena competed in the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. How's that for a fun fact?

So there you have it, folks! Geena Davis is 66 years young, and she's still going strong. Isn't it amazing how time flies when you're having fun? Now, who's ready for a refill?
