How Old Is Ender In Ender's Game

So, Just How Old is Ender Wiggin?

Alright, let's dive into the fascinating world of Orson Scott Card's "Ender's Game". You've probably heard about this book, right? It's like the cool kid on the block of sci-fi literature. But here's the thing, folks, we're not here to talk about the book's popularity or its mind-blowing plot twists. No, today we're going to tackle a question that's been buzzing around like a little bug in the back of our minds: How old is Ender Wiggin?

Now, before we get started, let me just say, I'm not here to spoil the fun. If you haven't read "Ender's Game" yet, don't worry, I won't reveal any major plot points. This is more like a friendly chat about the book's timeline, a behind-the-scenes look, if you will.

Let's Set the Scene

Imagine this: Earth is under threat from an alien race, the Buggers. Humanity's only hope lies in a brilliant military strategist, a child prodigy named Ender Wiggin. But here's the kicker, Ender's not your average teenager. He's been accelerated through school, pushed through military training, all to prepare him for the ultimate battle.

So, when we first meet Ender, he's already been through a lot. But how old is he, really? Well, that's where things get a bit tricky. You see, the book doesn't give us a straight-up answer. It's like trying to pin down a slippery little fish. But don't worry, we're not going to let that stop us from having a good time, are we?

Let's Do Some Math

Alright, let's put on our detective hats and do a little sleuthing. We know that Ender is born in 2070, and he's accelerated through school, skipping grades left and right. He's in Battle School at the age of six, and he's there for three years. Then, he's on Eros for another three years. So, if we add all that up...

Well, folks, it looks like Ender is around 12 or 13 years old when he finally defeats the Buggers. But wait, there's more! After the final battle, Ender spends 3,000 years in the ansible, a kind of super-fast communication device. So, when he wakes up, he's a grown man, but his body is still that of a 13-year-old.
