How Old Is Derek Hale In Season 1

So, you've been binge-watching Teen Wolf and you're wondering, "How old is Derek Hale in Season 1?" Well, buckle up, my friend, because we're about to dive into the world of supernatural high school drama and figure this out together.

Let's Start at the Beginning

Imagine you're at a high school reunion, and you bump into your old buddy, Derek. You haven't seen him since you were both 16, but he looks exactly the same. Now, you know he's not a werewolf (or maybe he is, who knows in this world), but he's definitely not aging like the rest of us mere mortals. That's kind of what's going on with Derek Hale in Season 1 of Teen Wolf.

You see, Derek's been through a lot. He's been a werewolf for a while now, and let's just say, it's not exactly a youth-preserving lifestyle. But hey, at least he's got that eternal youth thing going for him, right?

So, How Old Is He?

Alright, let's get down to business. Derek Hale, as we meet him in Season 1, is actually 17 years old. Yes, you read that right. He's a high school junior, just like our main man Scott McCall. But here's where it gets a little tricky.

You remember how we said Derek's been a werewolf for a while? Well, that while is actually quite a bit longer than a season or two. Derek was bitten when he was 15, and that bite turned him into a werewolf, but it also stopped his aging process. So, while he might look like a teenager, he's actually been a werewolf for a couple of years by the time Season 1 rolls around.

Derek Hale Werewolf Season 1

Think of it like that friend who always looks like they're in their early 20s, but you know they've been out of college for at least a decade. Yeah, that's Derek. Eternal teenager, but with a lot more fur and fangs than your average college grad.

But Wait, There's More!

Now, you might be thinking, "But what about all those flashbacks? Derek looks older in those!" And you'd be right. Those flashbacks show us Derek before he was a werewolf, when he was a regular old high school student. And in those flashbacks, Derek is actually 18 years old.

Derek Hale Season 1

So, to sum it up, Derek Hale is 17 years old in Season 1 of Teen Wolf, but he's been a werewolf for a couple of years, and he looks older in flashbacks because, well, he was older in those flashbacks. Confused yet? Don't worry, it's a lot to take in. Just remember, Derek's eternal youth is one of the many mysteries of the Teen Wolf universe.

And That's Not the Only Mystery

You know what else is mysterious? Why Derek always seems to be wearing that leather jacket. I mean, sure, it's stylish, but it's got to get hot in those full moon transformations. Maybe it's a werewolf thing. Maybe it's just Derek's signature look. Either way, it's another one of those Teen Wolf mysteries that we might never solve.

But hey, that's what makes Teen Wolf so much fun, right? The mysteries, the drama, the werewolves. It's like a high school soap opera, but with more teeth and less prom drama. So, the next time you're watching Season 1 and you find yourself wondering, "How old is Derek Hale, anyway?" you can smile and say, "He's 17, but who knows how old he'll be by the next full moon."
