Carl Grimes: The Boy Who Grew Up Too Fast

When the first season of "The Walking Dead" kicked off, Carl Grimes was just a young boy, navigating the complexities of life and death in a world overrun by walkers. But how old was he, exactly?

In the comics, Carl was around 10 years old when the apocalypse began. However, the TV show took some creative liberties to make the character a bit older. So, let's put on our detective hats and do a little sleuthing.

Clues from the Comics and the Show

In the comics, Carl's age is explicitly stated. But the TV show is a bit more subtle. We can gather clues from the actors' ages, the characters' appearances, and the timeline of events.

Chandler Riggs, who plays Carl, was born on June 27, 1999. When the show first aired in 2010, he was around 11 years old. Now, let's consider the timeline of the show. The apocalypse began in the fall of 2010, according to the show's timeline. If we assume Carl was around 11 or 12 when the world ended, that would make sense given Chandler's age at the time.
