Meet Aunt Viv: The Original and The Replacement

First things first, let's talk about the two Aunt Vivs. The original Aunt Viv, played by Janet Hubert-Whitten, was with us from the start, from 1990 to 1993. Then, Daphne Maxwell Reid took over the role in 1993 and stayed until the series ended in 1996.

Janet Hubert-Whitten: The OG Aunt Viv

Now, Janet Hubert-Whitten, our original Aunt Viv, was born on January 13, 1965. That makes her a 57-year-old Capricorn, if you're into astrology. She was in her mid-20s when she started playing Aunt Viv, so she was a cool, older sister figure to young Will Smith on the show.

Daphne Maxwell Reid: The Replacement Aunt Viv

Daphne Maxwell Reid, our second Aunt Viv, was born on July 13, 1948. That makes her a 73-year-old Cancer. She was in her mid-40s when she joined the cast, bringing a different energy to the character. Fun fact: Before acting, she was a fashion model! Can you imagine Aunt Viv strutting down the runway?
