Growing Up in the D

Born in Detroit, Michigan, in the late 1960s and early 1970s, Joseph Bruce (Violent J) and Joseph Utsler (Shaggy 2 Dope) grew up in the heart of the Motor City. Their upbringing was far from easy, with both of them facing challenges that would shape their unique perspective on life and music.

Violent J, born in 1970, spent his childhood moving between foster homes and group homes. Meanwhile, Shaggy 2 Dope, born in 1972, faced his own struggles, including a stint in juvenile detention. Birth of the Juggalo Family

Insane Clown Posse's debut album, "Carnival of Carnage," was released in 1992. This marked the beginning of their distinctive horrorcore sound and the birth of the Juggalo family, their dedicated fanbase. The duo's unique blend of rap, rock, and wrestling-inspired theatrics quickly gained them a cult following.

Over the years, they've released numerous albums, including classics like "The Great Milenko" and "The Amazing Jeckel Brothers." They've also created their own record label, Psychopathic Records, and even their own line of Faygo soda, a nod to their Detroit roots.
